Hot Chicken Challenge 2 - Revenge of the Chicken
For years the humble chicken has sat back and said nothing as you carelessly took its eggs to scramble with a side of bacon for your breakfast. They watched in horror as you took their family members, ripped them apart, battered, deep fried, and covered them with hot sauce. That all changes now. The chickens have had enough and are about to have their revenge.
On Saturday, September 16, 2023, this giant chicken will take over the Chicago Lakefront. Your donations will determine whether this chicken will stay in its cage or flys the coop in order to enact his revenge.
As I write this we are a little over $1,000 away from $10,000 raised this season for clean water projects. If we hit that $10,000 before September 16 this chicken will be busting out of his cage and onto the Chicago Lakefront. You can make that happen. Your gift, of any amount, will get us one step closer to seeing that happen. I am going to be looking for some movement toward that goal so I can confidently place an order for that Chicken Suit and guarantee it gets here on time.
Just when you thought you’ve heard it all I have received a couple of pieces news that may change this up a bit. First, I had no expectations of another donation match so soon. But that is exactly what we are faced with. This Thursday, September 14, starting at 8:00am Central Time/9:00am Eastern Time, the first $100,000 in donations to World Vision’s Clean Water Projects will be matched. That means if you have been thinking to yourself, “I have been meaning to get that donation in” there is no better time than Thursday Morning. It also means that if you had no intention of donating, you now have until Thursday Morning to change your mind. Then, there is no better time than Thursday morning to get that donation in. There is a third option. Maybe you have already given and really want to do the greatest amount of good with your charitable giving or just really like the thought of someone running along the Lakefront in a Chicken Suit. For you too, Thursday morning is the right time.
At the time of writing this I am still about $1,000 away from from the $10,000 needed for me to run 20 miles along the Chicago Lakefront wearing a Chicken Suit. The suit has been purchased and is just waiting to make its appearance on September 16. The power is in your hands to determine if that will really happen.
But wait… There’s more…
Secondly, do you think my $10,000 goal is too low? My friend, Rob Mayer did, and he decided to do something about it. Rob is willing to put his dignity and a casual “easy” 20 mile run on the line. To add to this challenge, if we hit $12,000 total raised before Saturday, September 16, not only will I be running that day wearing a Chicken Suit, Rob will run chasing me dressed as the Swedish Chef from the Muppet Show. A Giant Chicken being chased by the Swedish Chef along Chicago’s Lakefront, doesn’t get much better than that.
